Here's a unique painting of my lovely wife. 

The use of paint and  brush do stand out in this painting giving the viewer a beyond lively feeling that conveys the artistic aspect of the painting as well as all the technical and philosophical  aspects that turns the painting into a museum quality work. notice the skin. notice the tiny woven holes that come through giving the skin that velvety real look of skin. This has been done with lots of thick paint and by the use of a shaved brush giving it that pointy head. Once the brush is shaved off correctly, it touches the surface of the thick codes of paint weaving the different shades and colors into another at times with micro broken movements and at other times within the larger areas such as the leg in larger but just as broken and un-uniformed  strokes. Either way a truly lively and soft skin is created.  remember that creating softness through a soft medium takes little artistic ability much as creating harshness through a harsh medium does. True art shows through the ability to create the highest of softness using the harshest of medium or visa versa, to create the highest of harshness through the softest of medium.

An other vivid example of true realism, better and most wrongly known among us in the United States as impressionism.
